New Moon Aug 2020

August 18, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

New Moon Summer Celebration.

We invite you to an outdoor evening on land and in the warm water on the August New Moon. This is a potent time where the gravitational pull of the sun and the moon are aligned to move water in a powerful way. The tides work within us allowing cleansing and moving emotions to make room for new experiences to arise. We are all processing many things during this time of isolation and social distancing which has it’s gifts and also connects us more deeply with the soul’s thirst of unity, love and connection.

Brandee will guide us into an opening meditation in the garden followed by a sharing circle. We will have the opportunity to share what is in our hearts and listen to the experiences of others in these times.

Kara will then lead us into some mantras. Mantras embody the archetypal forces of nature and this evening we will deepen our resonance with the forces of the luminous moon, the flow of water, and the abundant, vitality of summer. Chanting will calm your over-stimulated mind, refuelling your energy reserves. As you sing, chant, or speak mantras, you are pulled back through various energetic levels towards the source of sound itself: the goal of all Yogas. A Yoga of Sound can ultimately lead you into deep states of relaxed absorption to encounter the Self.
Jennie will then guide us into the water as our symbolic womb space to close the evening. The pool is a warm, 95 degree, salt-water pool. We will connect with the tidal nature of the Breath of Life and the spiralling forces between heaven and earth. The moon is our teacher, affecting all waters on the earth and all fluids in our body. When we can connect with this tidal breath it becomes easier to surrender all that no longer serves us in our life, makes space for something new to arise and our bodies become channels of divine light in service to humanity.

What to bring:

  • Cushion to sit on
  • any crystal or item you would like to charge on the center altar
  • wear your bathing suit to make the transition to the pool more efficient
  • a change of clothes for after the water ritual
  • a towel and water bottle

I believe we are complex, multilayered human beings but at our core shines a luminous intelligence. I have found sound, particularly mantra a powerful means towards healing the Self and accessing this deeper, luminous part of my Being. I am convinced, for some, sound can be a powerful spiritual tool allowing us to shift habitual patterns, release blocked energies, and uplift the spirit. Over the last 15 years, I have explored various types of Yoga including the meditative techniques and philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism, Vajrayana Buddhism (also known as Mantrayana, and studied in-depth with musician/yogi Russill Paul, the author of the book “The Yoga of Sound”.
